Abstract
The project consists of study of the potential avenues for installing and utilizing floating solar PV panels on the tailings pond of a mine. This area is usually demarked for storing wastewater and tailings can serve before recycling of water back to the plant thereby reducing the intake of fresh water. Considering these reasons, tailings pond can serve as a good avenue to install floating solar PV panels and generate electricity. The electricity generated can be used for O&M purpose at site and / or also stored in Battery banks for later use in the plant.
