Abstract
BC Hydro has established “advancing reconciliation with indigenous people” as a pillar of its 5-year strategy. To allocate work to First Nation Designated Businesses a clear, streamlined, and sustainable business process has been created. This project focuses on the design of a change management plan to implement this new work allocation process in the Field Support Services category. The implementation of the process will promote the collaboration with FNDBs and in such advance reconciliation with indigenous people.
The scope of this project is the Field Support Services category conformed by: Line Services, Civil Underground Construction, Distribution Vegetation, Transmission Vegetation, and Traffic Services. The deliverables are the change management plan, the key stakeholder assessment, communication
strategy and presentations.
Introduction
To advance reconciliation with indigenous people the Supply Chain business unit is looking for opportunities of meaningful benefit through procurement processes. A clear, sustainable, and streamlined process has been developed.
Objective
This project aims to design a change management plan to implement the new process across categories in the field support services portfolio. The categories involved in this process are: Line Services, Civil Underground Construction, Distribution Vegetation, Transmission Vegetation, and Traffic Services.
Methodology
To design the Change Management Plan the ADKAR model and BC Hydro’s Change Management Guidelines were used.
Results and Discussion
Conclusion
The Change Management plan developed with the use of management tools sets the game plan to implement the change. Limited time to execute this project and a set of different agendas (feature of a large organization) added difficulty to the execution of different tasks. Nevertheless, with the disposition to work and the correct guidance of Emily Palmer (Mentor) I was able to perform the analysis and provide part of the change management plan that will contribute to the organizations goal of advancing reconciliation.
