The purpose of this website  is to give an overview of issues pertaining to forest management regarding salmon survival with a focus on identifying three concerns greatly affecting salmon habitat in British Columbia (B.C.). Providing a basic understanding of the stream ecosystem, how it is influenced by forestry practices, and how we can reduce and prevent harmful effects within valuable spawning aquatic systems. We have examined the siltation of salmon spawning habitat relative to key practices applied within the forest industry. The three primary concerns relevant to the conservation and preservation of crucial spawning gravel beds are: soil erosion and siltation (fine particle deposition), effects on abiotic stream variables, and altered stream hydrological regime (Pike et al., 2010).
