Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is based on one key principle: that all students can learn and grow within our classrooms.

Under this principle, lie my 5 core beliefs:

  1. Students learn the best through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. When students are given the power and autonomy to find the answers to their questions, then their learning is going to be made more meaningful and authentic to them.
  2. I believe in learning through play, which will help to foster and maintain creativity among our students. I want to give my students the time and opportunity to explore and make meaning new ideas and concepts.
  3. I believe that technology has a place in the classroom and in our students’ learning. While I do not believe that technology should ever replace the role of the teacher, it can still be used to help to enhance the learning of our students.
  4. I believe in developing social and emotional learning within my students. Things such as building a positive classroom community and relationships between teacher to student or student to student is something that I am passionate about in building. I value my students and their ideas as I truly believe that all of my students have something that they can offer and bring into the classroom.
  5. Finally, I believe in differentiated instruction. Students should be given opportunities to show their learning through different ways. All of our learners are different and unique thus, they should be given different opportunities to show their learning.
