Music of the Heavens was conceived by composer and performer Lan Tung from the JUNO nominated Orchid Ensemble, and Dr. Aleksandra Dulic, Associate Professor in Creative Studies and Director of the Centre for Culture and Technology at UBC Okanagan.

Kelowna based media artists Aleksandra Dulic and Kenneth Newby will create and perform live animated visuals, transforming ancient mythical creatures from the heavenly world. The animation team includes talented UBCO students and graduates: Artist Jacen Dennis is lead animator who oversees all the sections of the project; Amberley John, the Indigenous artist who created the Bear story visuals; Diane Schnieders, the artist who created the Weaver Woman story visuals; and Ardanna Semeschuk, the artist who created the Greek story visuals. Visual artist Li Tung created some drawings for the Chinese and Greek sections.

Vancouver based composers Lan Tung, John Oliver, and Stefan Smulovitz’s scores will be performed by the JUNO nominated Orchid Ensemble on a cross-cultural instrumentation of erhu/Chinese violin, zheng/Chinese zither, voice, marimba and percussion. Orchid Ensemble is a cross-cultural instrumentation that includes Lan Tung on erhu/Chinese violin, Dailin Hsieh on zheng/Chinese zither, and Jonathan Bernard on marimba and percussion.
