Site

The site for the garden component of the project is the decommissioned daycare adjacent to UBC’s First Nations Longhouse.  Other plantings around the building have a number of native plants that will be incorporated into the project and provide opportunities to enhance the diversity of plants.

The proposed site of the Musqueam Medicinal Garden has a number of native and non-native species.  With this project we plant to enhance the site with plants that have medicinal significance to the Musqueam.   Interpretive signage with interactive online augmentation will provide context for the plants with a focus on their cultural significance.  Non-native plants will be retained and provide educational opportunities as well.  The site is excellent for the many activities that will occur there.  Two patios along with other open spaces will provide social and educational space.
