Garden Development & Maintenance

There will be no major alterations to the general layout of this site.  All trees and large shrubs will be retained.  The only plant removal will be weeds and invasives (e.g. English ivy). Plants will be added along fence edges and into already prepared planting areas.  Soil may be added and/or conditioned in preparation for planting as per recommendation by UBC gardeners.  Plants have been selected based on research about their optimum growth conditions.  This site will also serve as a test site for a few species of interest (e.g. Vanilla leaf)

Materials
Plants will be provided by the UBC Botanical Garden or sourced from local nurseries. Plants will be local so will require little in the way of watering and tending.  Signage will be installed that is secure, yet easily moved.

Construction Plan: No construction is required

Watering Strategy: Two hose bibs provide water source for the plantings.  The plants are native to the region so the water requirement will be minimum.  We will have soaker hoses available for times of extended dryness.
