Category: Standing Waves
Summary: This LO introduces the idea of standing waves, by comparing it to the normal traveling waves learnt earlier in the course, along with some drawn graphs to illustrate how a standing wave is formed.

Title: Reflection and Transmission of Waves
Category: Reflection and Transmission of Mechanical Waves
Summary: This learning object discusses the concepts behind the reflection and transmission of waves, and includes a brief explanation of ultrasound imaging. The aim of this LO is to provide insight not only into when a wave is inverted upon reflection, but why a wave is or is not inverted upon reflection.
Correction:
At 2:40 in the video, I said that the amplitudes of transmitted and reflected waves add up to equal the amplitude of the incident wave. I meant that the energies of transmitted and reflected waves add up to equal the energy of the incident wave. It is energy that is conserved, not amplitude.
Title: Doppler Effect LO5 Vivian Tsang
Category: Doppler Effect
Summary: A re-submission of my LO 5 with corrected edits for better publication. Doppler effect talked about via powerpoint format.
Title: Superposition of Waves – Basics
Category: Superposition of waves
Summary: This slideshow outlines how and why superposition of waves occurs.
LO2 Title: Hard and Soft Reflections
Category: Reflection and Transmission of Mechanical Waves
Summary: In this Learning Object, I will walk you through the key points in hard and soft reflection of mechanical waves using examples from the Phet “Reflection of Waves” simulation.
There are two youtube videos which I uploaded to youtube. The videos are taken from the Phet simulation Reflection of Waves. The format is slideshare and youtube.
Category: Doppler Effect
Summary: This slideshow is about the Doppler Effect and how to use the equation. It complements the information in the textbook (ch 15-7)
Title: Power and Intensity – LO4 Physics 101
Category: Power and Intensity
Summary: A powerpoint presentation demonstrating two problems with solutions that explore applications of power and intensity in real life. It provides steps on how to derive equations to solve questions.
Title: Displacement and Pressure of Sound Waves
Category: Sound Waves
Summary: This powerpoint presentation looks at some properties of sound waves and explains the relationship between displacement and pressure of sound waves with a practice problem at the end.
Title: Power and Intensity: Talking
Category: Power and Intensity
Summary: Find out the power required to talk over a movie.
Category: Sound Waves
Summary: For my learning object, I focused on the basic background of Sound waves as I wasn’t very familiar with it to begin with and was intrigued on how our ear accepts the sound waves. Relating it to simple things such as playground toys and air hockey made the concepts easier to remember. Also, discussed are the equations of sound waves and speed and the mediums it travels through.
