Wave Propagation and Huygens’ Principle

Title: Wave Propagation and Huygens’ Principle

Category: Wave Propagation and Huygens Principle

Summary: Huygens’ Principle allows us to understand the ideas behind diffraction and plane waves. The slideshow goes through the importance of the principle as well as the methods to use Huygens’ principle, coupled with examples. The format i used was a PowerPoint, with one final test question at the end to summarize the understanding of the concept.

Interference in Active Noise Cancelling Headphones

Summary: This Learning Object explores the concept of interference and its application to real life products, particularly in active noise cancelling headphones. This Learning Object is done as a word problem to expose the students to the real life application of physic concepts and urge them to explore other uses of concepts in physics in real life.

Binaural Beating and its Effect on the Human Brain

Summary: The objective of this Learning object is to explain and describe the physics behind the concept of beats, discuss the mathematics behind them and lastly, apply them to a real-life situation, such as their presence in the brain and how they affect it. The format of the LO is Prezzi because it is much more entertaining and engaging than a Power Point presentation, but provides information just as well..

Beats Frequency

Title: Beats Frequency

Category: Beats

Summary: This Learning Object gives a problem that we haven’t done in class yet although we have been given the required material to do it. It is a short and briefly summarized powerpoint problem that lets you see how different components can act on the speed of sound and therefore changing frequency which in turn changes beat frequency.

Beats

Title: Beats

Category: Beats

Summary: Learning Object is on the topic of beats. I chose to explain this topic in the format of powerpoint. To fully understand beats, one need to understand the principle of superposition. Two waves interfere, causing constructive and destructive interference and this creates beats.

Snoring Troubles

Title: Snoring Troubles

Category: 2D Wave Interference

Summary: This LO is on sound wave interference. This problem utilizes knowledge of destructive and constructive interference of 2D sound waves. It is in the format of a word document consisting of a two part question.
