Opposition to Northern Gateway: Think about our First Nation People; Think about the Future of Our Environment

northern-gateway1

First Nation people are desperately fighting for their lands, their water, their animals, their livelihood, and the natural environment of all of us.

While agree with Keegan’s point of view on the Northern Gateway Pipeline project politically, I want to stress my opposition to its implementation based on environment factors on the PEST analysis.

Indeed, Enbridge might be able to build the “safest oil pipeline”, but nobody can guarantee there will be no single adversely environmental impact in the long term, and nobody can afford the negative consequences once the pipeline ruptures and the oil spills on First Nation’s land, their fishing and their livings, or even worse, into the Pacific Ocean. While the government and company care about “Alberta’s urgent need for new markets for its oil-based economy”, shouldn’t they also consider the danger that our First Nation people’s livelihood, and even the future of our environment are facing once they implement the plan?

Indeed, the implementation of the Northern Gateway Pipeline will be critical for for Enbridge to generate more profit; for Alberta’s shrinking market to once again prosper; for Canada to boost its GDP as the demand will increase incredibly, but really, nothing can be compared as vital as to keeping our resources clean, our people happy, and our environment safe.

My opposition to the Northern Gateway Pipeline project not only shows my care and sympathy to the rights of our First Nation people, but also shows my concern and protection for the safety of our human society, and the future of the world’s natural environment.

AIESEC – DO YOU ALSO VALUE ITS VALUE PROPOSITIONS?

You might not realize that all of you are part of the stakeholders of AIESEC.

Why? Let me introduce more about AIESEC first.

AIESEC is a global, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of high education. Its core values are helping youths develop and grow and finally become everyday or/and global leaders. Its missions include providing youths with global internships and volunteer experiences ranging from dynamite global citizen program to on-campus leadership programs.

AIESEC’s value propositions benefit all of us, whether we are directly involved or only being positively influenced. First of all, AIESEC serves as a bridge connecting  globally minded youths and different companies and organizations. As a member of AIESEC (also defined as AIESECers) myself, I am involved in both the leadership program on campus and the internship program internationally. I value the opportunities that AIESEC offers me as helping me relieve my “pain” of lack of professional skills and create my “gain” of reaching my leadership potential.

Being AIESEC’s partner companies (one of the “key partners” of AIESEC based on the Business Model Canvas, despite AIESEC is literately not a business), they can earn diversely talented employees from all over the world as well as consistent global employer branding.

After AIESECers earn extensive experiences and skills and successfully transform into a globally minded leader, they can “graduate” from AIESEC and become AIESEC Alumni, who will then have the capability to further contribute back to our society as a whole and make more positive impact on next generation of youths.

Then the next generation of AIESECers will contribute back to the society and make more positive impact on their next generation of youths; and so on so forth…

Now you probably have gained more understanding and insight about why I insisted in saying “you are all the stakeholders of AIESEC”. I believe that we all have the potential to become the next everyday or/and global leader; so check it out and tell me your opinions!

                                                          : D

An interesting fact about AIESEC: AIESEC’s inventories are its high-potential youths, but different from regular companies, the more inventories AIESEC have, the stronger the organization becomes; the longer the inventories stay in AIESEC, the more valuable they get eventually.
