This blog post aims to provide the context for the assignment design outlined in Assignment 2. The student assignment page can be found here.
This assignment is designed to support asynchronous online learning for undergraduate students in the social studies course. Students will engage in various activities, such as reading articles, watching videos, and responding to reflective questions in the discussion forum. Upon completing these activities, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts and apply them to their own context. Through this process, students will deepen their understanding of different types of consequentialism and analyze their own decision-making process from a consequentialist perspective, as outlined in the learning outcomes.
Although the assignment is not primarily focused on assessing multimedia skills, it requires students to use these skills to effectively support their presentation. As stated in the learning outcomes, the ability to communicate one’s decision-making process with evidence-based rationale is essential for demonstrating an understanding of the concepts. Therefore, the use of multimedia elements—such as presentation slides, multimedia elements, and the recorded presentation—plays a critical role in assessing students’ learning outcomes
