Xbox 360: Kinect Sports

The new generation of video gaming has arrived, The Xbox 360’s Kinect. When I first heard of its release, I didn’t expect it to be a huge hit in the gaming industry. However, they were successful on capturing the consumer’s attention. Even though i didn’t find it such a big deal, it still left me wondering how it really feels like playing the Kinect. In this ad, they try to send a message that the Kinect can bring families closer together. In my opinion, they have targeted their target market well since most of the people who will buy the Kinect will most likely be Parents. Also, they were able to differentiate their product from their competitors such as the Playstation Move and the Wii systems. This at the mean time was able to give them a sustainable competitive advantage. I personally was captured by their product and advertisement to go check out this product.
So last week I finally had the chance to check it out when I received an invite to a Kinect party at a family friend’s house. I was surprised at how responsive each move was and I will admit that it was really fun! The Kinect brings a whole new experience to the gaming industry and they marketed their product well. I would say they were able to send an accurate message through their advertisements since after playing the Kinect, I feel like it was able to strengthen our bond as friends.
