Achievements and Next Steps

Achievements:

We have 37 signatures on our petition and 22 data samples from our survey. While this is a good start, we need more support to make ourselves heard.

We have also found an ally in the Student Housing Associate, Steve Broderick, who is supportive of our cause. He is willing to take it to the next step and talk to his superiors about making a change, but only if we can define “financially vulnerable”, and back our claims with concrete data.

Let’s make this happen!

Next Steps:

  1. Contact Student Wellness and the Finance Department. Student Wellness is responsible for allocating health-based priority allocation, so we should learn about the model and try to implement something similar with the Finance Department.
  2. Collect more signatures and more student data from our survey. These numbers collected from UBCO will be the driving force for change.
  3. Define “financially vulnerable”. This can be done in collaboration with the Finance Department. A clear definition will allow the campaign to pinpoint relevant data which will drive change.
