Goodbyes

I wish I could say I was a rock, that I didn’t cry often.  Or ever.  But the truth is I cry, a lot.  Not like, I stubbed my toe and now I’m crying… not like that.  Or like I’m overtly emotional and cry one minute and hysterically laugh the next… I’m balanced.  But, you know that commercial where Michael Buble is doing a PSA for the children’s hospital… I cried during that commercial, and the one where Sarah McLachlan is talking about abused animals.  Now, it’s not like big alligator tears and bawling, but just shedding a couple tears.

This past two days saying goodbye to family has been like a never ending string of Canadian PSAs.

Packing, Packing, P… Wait a minute…

So, it’s been a few days since I first started phase one of my packing process extravaganza.  If I had kept to my planned schedule, I would be done packing most my stuff now, and waiting to pack the items I use on a daily basis. IF IF IF.  Well, I strayed from my plan… a lot.  Let’s just say I’m stuck in phase one.  When I say stuck, I mean nearly reverted back to phase negative one (I had to rip apart my bag to find a shirt for work).  Right now, I’m having a hard time deciding what to bring.  It’s like I’m packing for the apocalypse and summer camp at the same time.  I want to bring some of my favourite things, plus my essentials, but I also don’t want to be that kid that shows up on move in day with nineteen boxes, three house plants, a fish, and five suitcases.  I’m trying to pack light, in other words.  So, what does one bring to university?  I’ve googled it, but one website suggested 23 pairs of underwear and socks (no more, no less), and also a tool kit, a sewing kit, portable bomb shelter, gas mask, and enough food and water to last two weeks.  Jokes… kind of.

Daily Rate…

So, today at work I was thinking… how often am I supposed to update?  I’m a chatty person, who has an over active thought cycle, so I’m pretty sure I could find something to blog about on a daily basis.  Right now, my brain is UBC oriented, to the maximum, like if right now, my brain was one of those parabolas we had to graph in princ. grade 11 math, my curve would be above X axis… on the positive side (that’s about as much math talk as I can muster…)

So here, freezing on this cool Dawson Thursday evening, I bring you a blog in two parts.

Part 1)  Why is it so cold!

<—– me being cold and blogging from my backyard.

Part 2)  Residence

Fourteen Days!

So, I pack up (pack being the relative word) my belongings and move to Vancouver in fourteen days; that’s fourteen nights and one day.  You’d think I would be doing the responsible thing and actually packing my belongings, no?  Yeah… I’m not.  I don’t think I’ve even made a definitive list yet.  Perhaps I will just wing it the night before I actually have take off… that sounds like a terrible idea.  So terrible it just might work.

Right-o, some background on where I am coming from here.
