El reino de este mundo (parte2)

It is true, when there is no time English is just faster, and so this time I take the easy way out.. And yes, I am aware of the fact that I should have posted this over a week ago..

The second part of the book gave me a better understanding of the story and made me rethink my position on the first part.
I read it almost with pleasure, on the bus, on my way to and from university and, at times, I found myself a bit disappointed to see that I had arrived at destination and did not finish the chapter I was reading.
I liked the fact that the second part was a lot more dynamic rather than descriptive, and for that I found it much easier to read.
I finally understood how Tí Noel was always where the action took place and started wondering what would happen next.
Thinking about the book, now that over a week has past, I remember smiling sometimes as Carpentier portrayed historical figures with a bit of humour. Just to give you an example, in the first part he describes the lover of Lenormand de Mezy as a failed actress who was very skilled in the fine art of fellatio…. The book has plenty of these subtle comments that made the reading a little more interesting.
So this entry, other than being in English, is less than 260 words… On my next entry I shall explain why.
ps: can’t wait to start Cien años de soledad!
