Finally I’m back blogging! I did not think it would take me this long to get back here.. I guess I underestimated the effect that the Olympic Games would have on my schedule!
I have to admit that, after two weeks of carnival and sport mayhem and colours and music and parties and work and firends and I could go on for the whole blog, being back in class has not been easy!
Reading the end of my last blog I realized I still owe you an explanation for a blog that other than being very short, was in English.. This one seems to be in English as well.. so far.. The explanation is simple really.
I am overworked! I do not think I know anyone who goes to University, taking a full load of courses and maybe working part time on the side, who is not overworked! This class, Span365, is the most demanding of all of my classes this semester, and as far as I can remember is the most demanding of all of my classes, ever!! When I get to Sunday night, after a weekend of working and studying and sometimes still trying to keep my life going – my social life that is – the last thing I want to think about is blogging about a book I have yet to read!
This being said, I think this class is great! It is a lot of work, yes. Do I think that it is too much work? YES! However, I enjoy the class, the discussions we have, especially now that we are reading Cien años de soledad. If you read my previous posts you must have realized that I was no fan of El reino de este mundo.. Here is what I think about our latest book..
Cien años de soledad habla de lo mágico como si fuera normal, y de lo normal como si fuera mágico. Esto es lo que más me gusta de esta lectura.
Quería comprar este libro para leerlo durante las vacaciones de Navidad, para mí, sin saber que hubiera tenido que leerlo para este curso.. No lo hizo. Que lastima! Tendré mucho menos trabajo ahora.. Pero, leyéndolo ahora, me doy cuenta de que es mejor así. Tengo las lecturas fresca en mi mente cuando llego a clase y hablamos de lo que se pasa en Macondo, comprendo mucho más de lo que leo a través de las discusiones.
No siempre es evidente comprender o recordar quién es quien porque muchos personajes tienen los mismo nombres y la historia salta en el tiempo así que es también difícil, tal vez, comprender cuándo se pasa algo.
Al contrario de El reino de este mundo, Cien años de soledad es un libro que leo con gusto, desde el primer capítulo. Además mi copia viene de la biblioteca, es una edición bastante vieja, la páginas amarillas que empiezan a romperse dan al libro algo de especial. Necesito tener cuidado con el, un poco como si fuera mágico.
Espero poder mantener el ritmo de lectura de la clase.. quiero descubrir los secretos, las emociones y las aventuras escondidas en las páginas de este libro.
