Competition Dates and Location:
June 27–July 1, 2011 Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division David Taylor Model Basin Bethesda, Maryland
The competition is run in a large naval test tank. It is a straight-line speed test where the submarine must go through four timing gates. There is a small run-up area to get the submarine up to speed. Once it crosses the first gate the clock starts. The submarine with the top speed (best time) wins the competition. We are also judged on a presentation on our design. There are numerous other awards including, spirit of the competition and best use of composites.
