What is Connection Week?

A time that we open discourse about topics pertaining to the Caribbean’s and Africa’s people. Discourse that gives us insight and solutions to our prominent problems and shed’s light on pressing topics. It is equally a period when we share our experiences, feelings and thoughts about these topics.

This year the Caribbean African Association presents to you Connection Week under the theme “Unraveling the Fabric of Cultural Identity” with our overall theme being “Loud and Proud”. The theme is aimed at exploring the multi-dimensional nature of cultural identity while focusing on Africa and the Caribbean to showcase the diversity in cultures. A forum through which we not only discuss the issues surrounding cultural identity but create a platform on which we begin to embrace and appreciate our identities.

Connection week starts on March 10th with the opening ceremony following with a series of other engaging and fun events.

1.) March 10th- Opening Ceremony ( Lui Institute). Starts 6:30
2.) March 12th – Black Monologues Festival (Pharmaceutical Sciences Building) Starts 6:30pm
3.) March 14th – Caribbean Dance class ( SUB 212A) Starts 6:00pm
4.) March 16th – Carnival Dance Party – (Abdul Ladha Science Centre) Starts 8:00pm .
