Lauren has imagined the death of her parents too many times, and she always believed that it would set her free. But when she actually loses her parents, she realizes that her abusive father was not the devil.

Shunned by every living blood relative, Laurens finds herself utterly alone in this mysterious world. She was moved to a local orphanage, where she finally makes a friend, only to realize that she is not who Lauren thought she was.
