About this blog

Welcome to UBC Foodie blog.

We’re all foodies at heart. It’s no surprise that UBC has it’s myriads AMS club just about food. Food breaks down barriers and builds relationships.

You have the

Food Society: “Experience exquisite cuisine, meet fellow foodies, and learn how to cook all on a student budget! The Food Society offers unique food experiences in group settings.” They host a lot of eating events like restaurant crawl and food tasting on campus.

Food for Thought: “Food for Thought s purpose is to offer educational, interactive nutrition workshops to Vancouver s youth. We teach basic concepts of nutrition, to aid youth in realizing the importance of taking an active role in their well-being. ”

Food and Faith UBC: “We do this primarily through our weekly Monday Night Meals where we enjoy free food and deep conversations, and occasional retreats and activities throughout the year.” What better than free food and discussions about your eternity?

UBC Cooking Club; “We aim to foster a community of cooking enthusiasts through the promotion of food preparation skills and the enjoyment of delicious food.” Learn another life skill with your university education.

Sprouts: “Sprouts is a 100% volunteer and student-run organization at UBC. Through our many initiatives we endeavor to make healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food accessible to everyone on campus.” How can you forget sprouts? They’re known for the healthy food by donation in the old sub. Haven’t tried it – too hipster for my liking – but I heard it’s good.

Along with these food clubs the AMS runs. There are also cultural and ethnicity clubs that are basically foodie galore. Take for example the Singapore and Malaysian clubs. Being a Singaporean, I can tell you that a good 75% of the population is foodie in Singapore. We pretty much eat all day, every day. This reflects to the UBC clubs events. Most the events at the Singapore Student Association is food orientated. We even have the SEA (south east asian) food night between these clubs. Beyond the SSA and SMC clubs, the Vietnamese club, Greek club, and the Latin America club are also very food focus. So check some of these clubs if you want a multicultural food experience! (or check out their events at least). The Taiwanese club has a lot of bubble tea and club events.
