UFSA’s staple events are our monthly discussion groups and our annual symposium. We also organize speaker/panel events (Some people that have spoken at our events are: Tony Zhou from Every Frame a Painting, local filmmakers and industry experts, and UBC Film Studies professors).
Symposium
Our second annual symposium will take place on March 23rd, 2018 at the UBC Buchanan Penthouse. Submissions are accepted until January 14th, 2018 as word documents sent to editor.ubcufsa@gmail.com. See our submissions page for more details.
Monthly mixers
Our meet-up events usually take place at the beginning of the month. To stay up to date regarding exact dates and locations, check out our events page on Facebook.
Our monthly meet-ups will consist of a presentation of a published blog post by the author, followed by a discussion about the film in a large group setting as well as a smaller group setting for those interested. Some discussion meetings will also feature guest speakers from other departments at UBC offering their perspective in order to build and foster an interdisciplinary approach to film at UBC.
