“Drug problem” is no doubt a major issue of the entire world today and it becomes easily to find negative impact news of drug on the Internet. The American Medical Association suggested that government should prohibit drugs to be advertised directly to consumers. Though the pharmaceutical industry disagrees with this recommendation, as far as I am concerned, it benefits a lot.

Actually we have to admit that some advertisements of drugs show real and useful information (the ingredient of drug, the efficacy of drug) to consumers, but we cannot make sure that each consumer can figure out symptoms by themselves correctly. Besides, some companies might exaggerate effects of drugs. Therefore, some patients might purchase wrong medicines that make them lost the best time to take treatments.

On the other side, companies might raise the price of drugs because of the high cost of drugs’ advertisements. As reports shown, an increasing number of people lost their lives because they are not able to afford the cost of medicines. (How many people die each year because they can’t afford treatment?) Limitations for drugs’ advertisements can somewhat reduce the cost of companies. Thus, they may have more financial capitals to develop new area of medical service and also decrease the price of the products. In this case, more people have opportunities to get proper treatments and this is the real meaning of being a drugs’ producer or doctor- saving people’s life.
