Hi, I’m Yury. Nice to meet you!

I’m a Data Scientist, Statistician, Machine Learning Developer, and person living in Canada/Austria. I’ll be using this webpage to exhibit what I’m currently working on and to post thoughts I feel are worth sharing.

A Little About Me:

There are many things that I enjoy doing, but working at startups, some handicraft, dancing, and various tech projects would probably go at the top of that list.

Background

I was born in Minsk, Belarus, but only lived there for a brief 2.5 years. Growing up in Mississauga, Ontario, the majority of my life has been spent living in Canada. My grand future plans also include moving to Austria– I’ve lived here a total of 8 months so far and absolutely loved it. Although living in Canada is a pleasure and a privilege, the European culture is closer to my heart. It helps that I’ve been learning German for a while now.

Education

I’m just about finishing up (graduating May 2020) my BSc in Statistics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. My program has a thematic concentration in Computer Science, to give me the theoretical backbone for my coding experience.

Languages

My dominant language is English, but I’m also fluent in Russian with a mild Canadian accent. My German is at a B-2 level now, so I can hold a decent conversation in it! (My Austrian girlfriend taught me a bit of the Montafon dialect as well)
