I am Assistant Professor of Teaching at the University of British Columbia in the Department of English Language and Literatures and chair of the Co-ordinated Arts Program. My current research focuses on pedagogies of literature and academic communication and I have a research background in poetry, specifically contemporary poetry and its relation to crisis and memory. I have essays published in English Studies in Canada, Memory Studies , and Tulsa Studies in Women’s Literature and an essay forthcoming in Pedagogy. I recently received TLEF funding to undertake a teaching and learning initiative entitled, “Speaking in the Disciplines: A “Precedents” Archive for Teaching and Learning Oral Genres.” I received my Ph.D. from UBC in 2011 and also hold an M.A. in Creative Writing from Concordia University.
