CBS News Internship for College Students with Disabilities 3rd Annual CBS News/Lights! Camera! Access! 2.0/DisBeat Internship for College Students with Disabilities
For three years, CBS News in collaboration with Lights! Camera! Access! 2.0 Initiative and DisBeat, has expanded its paid internship program to include outreach to college juniors, seniors and graduate students with disabilities for the CBS News/Lights! Camera! Access! 2.0/DisBeat Internship for Spring2018. Recent graduates are not eligible.
Applications are due by 5 pm ET on Friday, October 20, 2017.
Applicants with insight into the lived experiences of disability are strongly encouraged to apply for the Spring 2018 Internship Program that runs fromJanuary 8 — May 11, 2018.
The CBS News Internship Program is designed for college students interested in pursuing a career in journalism, broadcasting or communications. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students are eligible. Students majoring in journalism, broadcasting or communications are preferred, but those majoring in marketing, advertising, public relations, English, history, international studies and political science are welcome to apply and will be considered.
Placement possibilities include The Evening News, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, CBS This Morning, Sunday Morning, National Desk, Newspath, Radio News, Press Office, Weekend News, News Marketing, Investigative Unit and Broadcast Marketing. The location is New York City.
Participants must have good computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities and knowledge of current events. A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended. Interns are expected to work 16 hours/week and adhere to a professional code of ethics. Assignments vary day-to-day. Interns can expect to Learn fundamental news gathering skills, find, confirm and report news stories, log tapes, coordinate script, research stories, conduct preliminary interviews, assist during shoots, select footage, perform light clerical duties and assist staff members. Duties vary in each department.
This is a paid internship. CBS News does not require students to receive college credit. Students are solely responsible for coordinating and meeting credit requirements of their college/university.
