Links to Practice

My hopes are to create a community between high schools and elementary schools where collaboration can take place and elementary teachers can gain resources to better there teaching practices in the physical education setting.

Although my proposal may not be affective for this semester as the physical education leadership class curriculum is already made up, I will provide a mock lesson plan for what physical educators can do for their students to prep them to teach fundamental movement skills to a younger age group. From there, secondary PE teachers can then help guide their students to create new lessons they wish to deliver to an elementary PE class.

While pursuing my teaching education, I hope to continue to foster collaboration between schools, despite some of the limitations I may encounter. If elementary teachers can see the success of having additional physical education resources, while physical education secondary teachers see benefits of students learning how to teach fundamental movement skills, students will be able to get the resources they need to gain physical literacy experience at a younger age.

Future goals: One future goal I would like to eventually facilitate is to collaborate with a PE peer in the UBC BeD program who is also inquiring on how high school education teachers can collaborate with elementary teachers to improve fundamental movement skills at a young age. We would focus primarily within the Surrey School District (district 36) where we ourselves can share our resources with one another and work together to increase collaboration between high schools and elementary schools, specifically in a physical education setting.
