Lesson Objectives
- Students will learn and understand BC’s new curriculum physical literacy competencies
- Students will learn and demonstrate their knowledge in teaching fundamental movement skill activities for jumping for a grade 2 elementary class
- Students in groups will design an activity for FMS jumping for a grade 2 age level
- Students will display a positive attitude while fully participating in all activities and respect their fellow peers and their teacher

Time: 8:30-9:52am
5 minutes:
Warm up: Rock paper scissors tag – Students (in partners) stand in the middle of the gym and play rock paper scissors and whoever loses has to run to the wall behind them before getting tagged.
5 minutes:
Physical Literacy Discussion & grade 2 BC’s new curriculum physical literacy competencies
Define physical literacy / importance of physical literacy “Students are expected to develop and demonstrate a variety of fundamental movement skills in a variety of physical activities & environments
15 minutes:
Activity 1: Describe, demonstrate & play Jumping activity (Jump to jump) – A1: Students will learn how to teach grade 2s an activity (jump to jump) involving colored poly spots and jumping from color to color based on which color is stated.
15 minutes:
Activity 2: Describe, demonstrate & play Jumping activity (Human alphabet) – A2: Students will learn how to teach grade 2’s human alphabet: students jump around the gym until the teacher yells a letter. Once yelled, students in partners / groups have to make that letter. (ie “E”)
20 minutes:
Activity 3: Create your own activity: once created in groups of 4, groups will be able to practice their activity which will be demonstrated the following class. – A3: game must be inclusive, age appropriate and involves jumping skills
Activity will be assessed based on:
- safety
- use of equipment
- use of space
- is the fundamental movement skill being used?
