What books are you reading for 2013?

I was just at white dwarf books in Vancouver, and they had some of the new books for this April.

I was really excited and it felt good to be able to find books that have strong female authors.

It seems that usually there is an excess of male characters, or the female main characters are placed in paranormal romance books. Where if the plot is good, you need to skip past 2/3rds of the book being full of sex or what not.

Some good authors I have come to relay on are:

Karen Chance (Smart, Sassy, strong and klutzy, this main character is a seer often struggling to balance life, war, and life. )

Ilona Andrews ( Is actually a duo author team, husband Gordan and wife Ilona) The books are filled with action, full of range and have a wit of characters.

Faith Hunter (a kickass strong female character that is not perfect, who gets depressed, angry, happy, and all the other emotions that fly within a person. I like her especially for her native american ancestry. While there were few urban fantasy books with aboriginal characters, this author is really breaking through with an awesome character that has contact with the past, present and future. )

Thea Harrison (some romance, but in manageable doses that does not distract form the main plot)
