Urban Fantasy

Urban Fantasy is a new genre that I have recently become more aware of. It is really cool how writers have merged a fantastical world with a more modern take, for example fairies in Vancouver BC.

Urban Fantasy is also know for its romantic inclinations, and has books published under romance publishing houses such as LUNA.

A good urban fantasy book is something that brings an exciting modern – fantasy world full of well developed characters and looks at aspects/problems in society that are very real today.

Good Urban Fantasy Books (I can reread them and still enjoy them as much when I first picked them up):

Books I recommend:

Karen Chance: Cassandra Series & Midnight’s Daughter (Vampire and Seers)
Illona Andrews: Magic Series (Incredibly good! And a mix of many mythological and paranormal creatures)
Patricia Briggs: Her Mercy series (Werewolf based)

Robin Mckinley: Dragon Haven (Dragons/Mind Reading)
Robin Mckinely: Sunshine (Vampires/Fae/Sorcerers)

  1. I think that the next book that I will read:

    Marta Acosta – Casa Dracula

It looks like a fun urban fantasy/romance book.

Female Character/Sense of humour in the summary.

    What better?
