Student Evaluations of Teaching

Below presents unabridged examples of my student evaluations of teaching.

BIOC301 – Biochemistry Laboratory

Audience: 3rd year undergraduate students

Discipline(s): Majors of Biochemistry (BIOC), Biomedical Engineering (BMED), Biophysics (BIOP), Cell, Anatomical and Physiological Sciences (CAPS), Pharmacology (PCTH).

I teach this course with 7 other Teaching Assistants under the supervision of Dr. Jason Read. I directly supervise 20 students per year on fundamental laboratory techniques of biochemistry and molecular biology. I also give guest lectures when opportunities arise.

CHEM461+561 – Synthetic Chemical Biology

Audience: 4th year undergraduate students + 1st year graduate students

Discipline(s): Majors of Biochemistry*, Chemistry and Chemical Biology*

This course explores contemporary advancements in Chemical Biology with typically 20 students per year. With course chair Dr. David M. Perrin, I designed interactive course content on modern technology (e.g. CRISPR and RNAi), problem sets, tutorials formative, and summative assessments. Future work will include novice-friendly workshops on research grant writing, and review sessions.

*Biochemistry focuses on understanding the chemical reactions and substances within living organisms, while chemical biology is the study of chemical tools to study biological processes.
