Digital CUBE for Measured Drawing: Translate axonometric sketches into measured digital drawings.
When you are ready to begin drawing your site and design interventions in a digital, measured drawing format, download and open axo+ai_template_v3.3dm. In Rhino, open Grasshopper and load axo+ai_template_v3.gh. Both files can be downloaded here: CUBE_AI_TEMPLATE
Now, as you model site conditions and design interventions in Rhino, refer to the Grasshopper-preview CUBE framework in the model space. Use the pop-window to adjust the model:
- Expand and contract the size of your CUBE to explore scales of analysis and intervention. Are you considering/drawing/addressing landscape/urban systems below grade? Outside the boundaries of your site? Where should your design interventions extend, and what will be the scale of their impact?
- Toggle surface water runoff and slope visualizations to see how your interventions impact the topographic and hydrological conditions of the site. What implications will these changes have on the flow of water? On accessibility? On plant species?
IMPORTANT: To use the Digital CUBE, a few free Grasshopper plug-ins must be installed:
