Event Announcement: Readers’ Advisory Workshop!

Readers’ Advisory Workshop

Presented by the UBC student chapters of ALA, BCLA/CLA, SLA, Librarians Without Borders, and YAACS!

When: Wednesday, Dec 2, 11am – 1pm

Where: Lillooet Room, IKB

Want to find out more about Readers’ Advisory? Come to our workshop to learn about RA basics, resources, and skills — for adults, young adults, and children!

We’ll be hosting a series of student-led lightning talks on Readers’ Advisory topics, from RA Resources to Adult Literacy Levels to Diversity in RA.

Jumping in and participating is a big part of learning RA skills, so we encourage you to participate in the following events (though, of course, it’s not required):

  • Genre Roundtable. Stoked about the idea of talking up your favourite genre for 3-5 minutes? Send Chloe an email with your genre to sign-up! chloeanneriley@gmail.com
  • An informal Bookslam. Want to try recommending a book in just 1 minute? (We’re all new to this, so don’t be shy!) Bring a great book to recommend!

Interested in coming but can’t stay for the whole workshop? Drop by anytime and stay for as long as you like!

Awesome snacks will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
