Challenges that still exist:
- Being familiar with subject matter (ie getting up to speed)
- Keeping up with the academic cycle (midterm times vs ‘slow times’)
- Strategies to deal with classroom situations
- Helping students to know what to focus on in assignments/course work
Strategies that helped:
- Giving expectations/objectives
- Learning names of students
- Offering to follow up – teach them the process of finding the answers when you don’t know it
