In developing my educational philosophy, I am coming to see that the things that influence me the most come from different directions, but overlap in unexpected ways. As I look into the First People’s Principles of Learning, Place-based Education, Land Education, Video Game Design and Education, and Slow Pedagogy, among others, I began to see connections between them.

Learning experiences have become fragmented, broken down by subject and broken down into discrete units of time. The experience of learning has become less immersive. Emerging pedagogies call for a return to connection, to wholeness, to immersion.

In my inquiry project, I look at what video game designers know about learning that will help me as a teacher to invite my students into learning experiences.
