Objectives:

  • Effective collaboration with partners
  • Contributing to group discussions
  • Developing independent learning skills
  • Understanding and applying 15+ new idioms
  • Building skills needed to access additional idiom-related resources online for independent learning purposes.

Materials:

  • 1 Internet-enabled laptop or tablet computer per 2 students.
  • Blank paper (for writing and illustrating)

Context:

This lesson is oriented to be suitable for intermediate level English as a Foreign Language (EFL)/English as a Second Language (ESL) students in grades five through nine, depending on their level of language acquisition. It is designed to be used with a blended learning approach; materials for this lesson are primarily located online, but operate in combination with in-class discussions and activities.
