Start at Vancouver’s Open Data Portal: http://data.vancouver.ca/datacatalogue/index.htm

1. Download Business Licenses
2. Select all, Data, Sort, Business Type
3. Select “Liquor Retail Store”
4. Cut and Paste in a new Spreadsheet (make sure to also copy labels)
5. Save
6. Clean:
   1. Delete all columns except: Business Name, Business Subtype, number of employees, Latitude and Longitude.
   2. Delete records with missing Lat/Long. Delete records with missing Business Type.
7. Sort by Business Subtype
8. Edit, Add Column. Name= Business Type Code, Type=number
   1. Add numbers for each unique Business Type (ie, Beer and Wine =1, Beer only =2, etc)
   2. Save

OPEN IN FUSION TABLES

9. Create a fusion Table, add File
10. Label and link to data
11. Open Map and create different markers for the Biz Types
    1. Change Feature style
    2. Buckets
    3. Range 1-5
    4. Change numbers for range and choose icon for each

12. Edit the Cards to delete Latitude and Longitude
    1. in Change info window
