ETEC 512 Assignments

Lesson Plan Critique

I decided to have a little fun with the format of this assignment. In this case, creativity helped with content. It helped consolidate my understanding of the learning theories presented in this course. I hope you have as much fun reading the assignment as I had producing it.

Conference on Learning: Vygotsky Presentation

In the final module for ETEC 512, Course Consolidation, I worked with Brett Williams and Marie-Astrid Detharet to develop an online presentation. We called it:

Play, Imagination & Creativity… What Would Vygotsky Say?

I am intrigued by Vygotsky’s ideas on the contribution of play, imagination, and creativity to learning. Vygotsky called imagination with action play and gave them equal treatment. Play and imagination allow us to analysis and synthesize experiences and information without direct experience. Both are essential to concept development and the ability to generate (create) new behaviour (feelings, thoughts, and action).

This means that very young children can synthesize, analyze, and create (albeit at atheir developmental level) which sort of sets the notion of higher level thinking on its head! Something to consider.
