VCER: Virtual Commons for Education and Research

UBC Virtual Commons for Education and Research (VCER) Dr. Sandrine Han’s research project funded by the UBC Faculty of Education in 2012.

VCER is a virtual environment for educational use only.

This environment invites educators from K-12 to higher education to participate.

VCER initially includes four regions.

 

These five regions are: Orientation Island, Virtual Campus, K-12 Happy Land, Experiment Island, and Residential Villa.

Orientation Island is a place for users to learn how to get around and to know the places in VCER .

Virtual Classrooms is the region for graduate and undergraduate  courses which use the VCER for teaching and learning.

K-12 Happy Land is the region for teachers with K-12 students. Here is also consider to host a Virtual Room 13 Project.

Experiment Island is a place for educators, teachers, and students to experiment, collaborate, and research*.

Residential Villa is a place for all users to apply^ and use as their virtual home.

 

*UBC VCER is open to all educators to do research in this virtual space. All applicable policies related to conducting human research also apply in UBC-VCER, including receiving IRB/REB approval.
