Subject:         Progress Report – Improving Onboarding for New Tech Hires at Article, Vancouver

 

Purpose

The purpose of this report is to analyze the current onboarding process for new tech hires at Article, and to provide recommendations for improvement.

Intended Audience

Tahseen Fida, Engineer Director at Article.

Significance of Report

The investigation and resulting recommendations will provide the following benefits:

  • Increasing new hires’ productivity
  • Improving new hires’ mental health
  • Improving Article’s visibility as an excellent workplace for software engineers

Report Objectives

The report will investigate:

  • Strengths and weaknesses of the current onboarding process
  • Feasible solutions to improve the onboarding experience
  • Costs and consequences of implementing the solutions

Methods

Primary research will involve an online survey and interviews to gather insight from Article employees. Attached are the survey link and interview questions:

Secondary sources will be used for researching effective onboarding practices and solutions.

Research Plan

Below are tasks for determining the feasibility of improving Article’s onboarding process:

  • Interview Sarah Hemsley to understand Article’s onboarding process for remote hires
  • Interview Naseem Hammoud to learn the onboarding process of Article and other tech companies
  • Gather feedback from Article tech employees on their onboarding experience and suggestions for improvement
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of the current onboarding process through survey and interviews
  • Design visuals from survey statistics
  • Identify key characteristics of an effective onboarding process through online publications
  • List suggestions for onboarding improvements based on primary and secondary research
  • Determine costs and consequences of recommendations

    Thank you for posting your Outline and Progress Report with survey – excellent work, you are good to proceed. Just one note for your consideration: in place ‘pros’ and ‘cons’, consider using ‘advantages’ and ‘disadvantages’, or ‘strengths’ and ‘weakness’ Thank you.
