Subject: Tips on how to write an email to a professor
Introduction
As per the requirements of the assignment, I have compiled a list of tips to use when composing an email to a faculty member.
List of tips
- Include a subject that effectively summarizes your request in a few words
- Proofread a second time your email so as to correct eventual mistakes
- Address the person towards which you are writing the email in a respectful manner (ie: use Dr. <LastName> or Professor <LastName>)
- Always introduce yourself and explain your situation (eg: “I’m a third-year Computer Science student, and I plan to take this course as an elective”)
- Keep the email short and concise, but without omitting important information
- End your email with a formal “thank you” and your printed full name, together with your student number
Conclusion
Via email people can communicate and share thoughts about various topics. I hope that my tips from above are useful in order to write a professional email.
Kind Regards,
