Tech DIY – Learn electronics through sewing

From the minds of creative technology teachers passionate about introducing children and adults to the joy of making and exploring with electronics and creative technologies comes Tech DIY. They believe that all children are natural makers and tinkerers, but many technology and engineering projects are not as appealing to girls as they are to boys. Tech DIY was developed as a series of projects that use sewing and crafting skills to teach mothers and daughters about creative applications of technology. Over the years, they have expanded the audience for Tech DIY to include all kids and adults who want to play and make with technology. Following nine years of workshops and research, they wrote a book published by Make Media. Tech DIY, Easy Electronics Projects for Parents and Kids, teaches about the fundamental concepts of electronic circuits and electricity through ten hands-on crafting projects.

While many of the supplies for these projects are available at craft stores, it can be difficult to find some of the specialized electronic parts and high quality materials, like easy to use conductive thread and electronic components that you can sew so they have created two kits that contain custom designed electronics for the projects in our book – The Joy Kit and The Awesome Kit.

The video is embedded on the Kickstarter page, but it looks like the image above and is the first thing you see under the title of the project!
