YES, although the presenter’s vocal at times mimicked a sergeant yelling out orders the app has the potential of making education more seamless for international students and new immigrants, as it is able to give real time translation on any text and graphics by just point at it with a smart phone. Ignoring the lack of polish of the presenter the pitch was set up to have a nice flow. Started with music, a humorous personal story that investors could relate to and then quickly answered what the venture was about and why it was financially a good investment. They also tried to showcase the credibility of the workers of the company to make the investment more enticing. With a goal of $ 500 000, and over $300 000 in investments already, it was a solid pitch. Living in the GTA this app has the potential to increase communication between students, teachers, parents and the community, but the new venture needs to quickly create other in demand languages along with having a solid advertising campaign to be able to compete in the rapidly growing tech market.
Waygo sounds like an app that is worth investing in. “Instant visual translation”- It is amazing to learn that translations of any image from a camera on the phone is possible instantaneously. The other major attraction point is that Waygo works without requiring an Internet connection. This is helpful especially for those who would want to avoid paying roaming charges. From a business standpoint, it is also important to learn about the convincing financial position, highlight of the positive app reviews and the potential of this app.
