The company I chose for my report is Paper.Co (formerly GradeSlam), a start-up that began in Montreal, QC in 2014 with two founders who were McGill grads and former teachers. Paper.Co offers tutoring services online, a concept that is not new, but the company has been successful in selling their products to school districts (B2B) instead of direct-to-consumer (B2C)-providing the advantage that parents don’t pay for tutoring, the school district does. The company has gone through several rounds of funding but it is still privately held, meaning that investors that get in “early” may be able to get big returns.
