Hi Mike, thank you for sharing your educational venture analysis on Khan Academy. It’s interesting to compare it with my analysis on Coursera. One notable difference is that Khan Academy operates as a non-profit organization, providing free educational resources for K-12 subjects. In contrast, Coursera is a publicly traded company, offering university-level courses and degree programs for a fee.

Khan Academy’s non-profit status allows them to focus on accessibility and support for learners of all ages and abilities. They provide supplemental resources for K-12 subjects, while Coursera caters to those seeking university-level education and professional development.

Both platforms serve unique audiences and have distinct organizational structures, making valuable contributions to the online education landscape.

I had no idea that the Khan Academy was a non profit org until I started researching it! I couldn’t believe it. It seems like it could be so highly profitable if privatized. But that does not appear to be the goal of Sal Khan!
