Although “makerspace” is commonly used as a generic term to describe hackerspaces, fab labs and techshops, subtle distinctions between each type exist.
For the purposes of this OER, we have chosen to go with the all encompassing definition of makerspace. So, when we refer to makerspace, we are including makerspaces, hackerspaces and fab labs.
