The culture of digital gaming is increasing and changing significantly. I mean, there have been gamers, but now the quality of gaming and accessibly to it has changed drastically. Roblox is a very popular game right now that you can play on a mobile device or desktop. I asked one of my students last week what learning happens in a game and she responded “none”. I explained that there is actually a lot of learning that goes on in game, maybe not the same kind of learning that happens in the classroom but the strategies, the simulation fluency, problem solving, hand-eye coordination, map reading and maneuvering, and more!
Roblox is a hub where there are several different games you can play. There is gamification to encourage you to keep playing by earning different kinds of points and badges. There are even role-playing servers such as “Roblox High School”, so it is similar to an orientation or as if you’re actually in a high school. You need to get to class on time, complete your work, and more.
