Hello everyone!
My name is Jen and I am currently a substitute teacher in Calgary, Alberta. I am enrolled in my 8th and 9th class of the MET program. I am taking this class alongside of ETEC 540. Lately, I have exploring different elements of instructional design for job training. I am at the beginning stages of creating e-learning, and the current software I have been experimenting with, has the options of creating learning that is formatted to different devices, including mobile phones. I took this course because I am interested in the the pedagogy/androgogy of mobile learning. How do we enhance learning on mobile phones, and how does that learning differ from that which is designed to be viewed on a laptop?
In my spare time I like to play music and spend time with my dog Pablo.
I look forward to working alongside of all you and sharing ideas!
Jen
Hey Jen, happy to be taking another course with you – I’m looking forward to seeing what you post! I agree with your sentiments about wanting to know more about mobile learning – how can we use the smartphone in education in a way that other devices just wouldn’t make sense / be possible to use?
Hi Jen,
I am also taking ETEC 540 and have a dog. Look forward to our discussions in both courses.
Hi Ying!
I saw you this morning in the W1 discussion forums:) I look forward to our discussions in both courses too! Feel free to reach out to me if you want to share experiences/ideas between the two courses. We are both lucky to have dogs right now. Seriously a mental health saver!

Hi Jennifer,
Your dog is super cute! I am taking two courses this term too. Look forward to learning with you!
Hi Emily!
Thankyou:) He is under my table right now as I am typing this. I wish you luck with your two courses this term.

Hi Jennifer, interesting thoughts and Q’s. What are some of your favourite mobile learning tools? I only can think of a few I think.
Hi Jen,
I think the questions you posed are very interesting. I am new to this idea of “mobile learning” so I am also curious how designing e-learning for mobile devices is different from the design of other e-learning that is meant to be accessed using other devices. Mobile devices are such powerful tools and the idea of “enhancing” the learners experience specifically for mobile devices is something that I look forward to learning about in this course.
Hi Kelvin,
I look forward to that that too. Good luck this term!
Jen
Hi Toby,
I am not really sure which tools are specifically for mobile learning, but for e-learning I am learning how to use articulate storyline to create courses. I was really intimidated by it at first, as tech has been a steep learning curve for someone like me with a humanities background. Do you have any favorite tools?
Jen
