Filter Songs By Mood?

The new Spotify patent titled “Identification of taste attributes from an audio signal” describes a method for processing an audio signal input from users by including speech content and background noise to identify playable content based on the input.  The patented technology aims to detect the intonation, stress, rhythm, units of speech” and combine it with the acoustic information within a hidden Markov model architecture” so that Spotify with be able to categorize the user’s mood as happy, angry, sad, or neutral based on the users state.

Does this creep anyone out? Spotify being able to track my mood seems a little to far. Would this really help the user? Or would it just create a platform for Spotify to influence your mood without you even knowing?
