Thank you, Megan, for providing insight in to how AR can benefit the mining industry. I currently work with a lot of subject matter experts in the trades industry. I think having this piece of technology accessible will benefit all trades. I wonder if this AR glasses can be modified so those wearing safety goggles or glasses can also benefit from using this in their field.
Hi Sarah! Microsoft and Trimble have a product that has added AR capabilities to a hard hat and safety glasses combo – https://fieldtech.trimble.com/en/product/trimble-xr10-with-hololens-2. On paper these should work to meet PPE requirements, but I’m working on ordering one unit to see how they work in practice in a safety sensitive field. Fingers crossed they actually meet our requirements!
