SWORKIT-Fitness App for Physical Education

Posted in Mobile Education

AT the start of the pandemic I really wanted a physical challenge or to learn a new skill. Our Phys. Ed. Teacher signed our school up for SWORKIT to engage our students remotely. I saw this as a wonderful opportunity to improve my exercise repertoire. After I completed a 10 000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge I needed to recover and to develop some much-needed mobility after punishing myself for 5 weeks. So I turned to Sworkit to help me learn some basic yoga. Sworkit not only tracks your workouts but gives you described video assistance to ensure you execute the poses correctly. In addition, you can follow other workout routines, such as Kettlebells, dumbells, bodyweight and adjust the time to suit your schedule. It really helped guide me and give me some peace of mind by reducing my anxiety. There are also opportunities to share your milestones on social media. I recently reached the 150 workout milestone for yoga! One of the best parts is that because it is a mobile app, I can take my “mobile trainer” with me wherever I go.

  1. Really cool app! I’m currently looking into apps that combine mobile technology with exercise and health habits. Does the app have any ways to motivate you via badges, or achievements? Also, I see that there is a social media aspect to it as well. Are there any competitive aspects to this app?

Wow! This is a great tool, thank you for sharing this Phil! I have registered for the Peloton app which I like a lot for my workouts, but it does not give “video assistance to ensure you execute the poses correctly.” I can’t wait to try out SWORKIT!
